Thom Moore, four time Grammy award winner and producer and senior recording editor with Telarc, listens during a recent session with Massimo La Rosa, principal trombone of the Cleveland Orchestra.

Great guys, the both of them.

Massimo has created a new website to help provide information about his forthcoming CD and other activities. I highly recommend you check it out if world-class trombone playing is your thing.

I’m experimenting with some different treatments of one earlier photo and one new photo using some custom presets in Aperture 3. I agree with Scott Bourne that Aperture 3 is definitely slower than its predecessor in some ways. That said, it’s also true that Aperture 3 could marginalize or eliminate Photoshop from many photographers’ workflows. I have shot little to no HDR recently, so I haven’t launched Photoshop in months. And now that Aperture 3 has a curves brick, I may never need Photoshop again.

I’m on a bit of a 16:9 kick tonight. Can you tell? If you’ve got a preference for any of the photos below, please feel free to share it in the comments.

Well, my friends, it’s been one hell of a week. I’ve just now processed and uploaded the portraits that tell the story. Whenever I get more than a few days behind, I like to just put all the portraits into a single blog post for convenience.

Day One hundred and ninety-one: Back in Black

Day One hundred and ninety: I ain’t superstitious

I ain’t superstitious,
but a black cat crossed my trail.
Bad luck ain’t got me so far,
and I won’t let it stop me now.

Day One hundred and eighty-nine: I like your style

Day One hundred and eighty-six: Three-sixty

Try to be patient and optimistic in the face of trouble. Trust in yourself, and be true to yourself. Sometimes things turn around.
