Army pulls the plug on robot killing machine, Armageddon delayed for 10 years or so

You can relax citizens, we’ve got maybe another decade or so until Skynet becomes self-aware and decides to terminate the human race.

According to Popular Mechanics,

Last year, three armed ground bots were deployed to Iraq. But the remote-operated SWORDS units were almost immediately pulled off the battlefield, before firing a single shot at the enemy.

The Army’s Program Executive Officer for Ground Forces, Kevin Fahey, was vague in his explanation of the pull-out, which basically amounted to: when a robot mounted with a machine gun moves without permission, bad things can happen.
